The investigation, launched in April 2025 by the Elder and Vulnerable Adult Unit, uncovered forged documents used to deceive employers hiring for sensitive roles involving the care of vulnerable individuals.
Fortunately, none of the applicants with fake credentials were hired, thanks to the careful verification processes of the employers involved. In total, twelve charges were laid for uttering forged documents — a serious offence that could permanently damage one’s reputation and career prospects in Canada.
