Provincial Nominee Program

The provinces target applicants in this program for in-demand skilled workers who can contribute economically to the development of the province and who intend to reside there. It should be highlighted that provinces have complete discretion in choosing qualified people they feel will fit their standards and those of their programs. The applicant must satisfy the educational prerequisites of any provincially nominated programs, which may include Canadian or international education evaluated by Canadian-authorized educational assessment organizations like WES, ICES, ICAS, CES, IQAS, MCC, or PEBC. One of the qualifications for this program is verification of proof of finances. In addition to the costs spent by the federal government, several of these province nominee schemes involve application fees.

Provinces and territories may target:

  • Students
  • Business People
  • Skilled workers
  • Semi-Skilled workers

There are two ways to get selected for the PNP: on paper or by express entrance. This implies that candidates can submit their applications either through the express entry procedure if the province agrees to propose them to Canada, or through a paper-based non-express entry stream after receiving a nomination.

Note: All the programs undertaken by the provinces are NOCs dependent.
